Someone hanged a noose at an Amazon warehouse in Connecticut

Today’s curse news: Amazon has stopped building a new warehouse in Connecticut after workers found nooses hanging on various steel beams. According to a report by USA Today, seven pieces of rope that “can be interpreted as a noose” were found on several different floors of the building under construction.
Police in Windsor, Connecticut discovered a lasso at the scene for the first time on April 27; five more were found two days later. After finding the seventh lasso this week, Amazon decided to close the construction site. The police report stated that some ropes were twisted into more obvious nooses than others.
“We continue to be deeply disturbed by the incident at this construction site,” Brian Griggs, spokesperson for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, said at a press conference. “Hate, racism or discrimination has no place in our society, and of course it will not be tolerated in any workplace at Amazon-whether it is in construction like this or in full operation.” He added that the branch It is cooperating with local law enforcement agencies to “find and hold accountable the perpetrators of these incidents.”
Not the first time-seven lassos were found on a construction site, whether they were sloppy or otherwise, they all sent a clear message. It is actually the one received by Amazon before.
About a year ago, an Amazon employee in Arizona discovered a rope tied in the shape of a rope-this time in an active warehouse facility. The worker who found the rope felt that it was not safe enough, so he left the warehouse to work. She also told local news sources at the time that she felt that Amazon treated her “like an unknown person” and did not take this matter seriously.
Some background-Amazon seems to be taking lasso more seriously this time; the company now offers a $100,000 reward to anyone who knows information about this person.
Increasing attention may be related to the pressure Amazon is facing elsewhere to address racial and gender discrimination across the company. Recently, at least five women filed lawsuits against Amazon, all of them citing racial and gender discrimination in different roles. Two of the women are black; according to USA Today, the others are white, Latino and Asian American.
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People said that the Windsor construction site will be closed “until necessary security measures are taken.” It is not clear why the site has not yet implemented security cameras and other basic security measures. It seems that technology companies are usually terrible in terms of physical security.
