Operation points of gutter installation

1、 Current commonly used gutter materials and application scope 


At present, there are three kinds of commonly used gutter materials: 3 ~ 6 mm steel plate gutter, 0.8 ~ 1.2 mm stainless steel gutter, and 0.6 mm color steel plate gutter.

2.Scope of application:

Steel plate gutter and stainless steel gutter can be applied to most projects, among which stainless steel gutter is more commonly used in coastal areas and places with strong corrosive gas near the project; color plate gutter is mainly used for hanging gutter outside steam building and projects with small project area and small drainage capacity, and is often used as external hanging gutter.

2、 Gutter connection method: 

Steel plate gutter

1.Installation conditions:

Before the installation of steel plate gutter, the following conditions must be met: the main body of steel structure (finger beam and column) has been installed and adjusted, and all high-strength bolts have been finally screwed.For the project with parapet, the parapet column and corresponding wall beam have been installed and adjusted.Steel plate gutter has been carried out.Welding machine and welder are in place.


After the corresponding steel gutters are transported in place according to the design drawings, crane or manual lifting shall be adopted according to the size and weight of the gutter, and the gutter shall be transported to the designated installation area, and the gutter shall be temporarily connected by electric welding.After the materials of a gutter are all in place, a through line shall be drawn along the outside of the gutter with steel wire, and the inside and outside edges of the whole gutter shall be adjusted to the same straight line. During the adjustment, the gap at the joint of the gutter shall be minimized, and the temporary fixation shall be carried out by electric welding. Then, the horizontal welding seam at the bottom and the straight weld on both sides shall be fully welded with a 3.2mm diameter welding rod Quality and control welding current to prevent unnecessary trouble from burning through the gutter.Intermittent welding can be used at the connection between the bottom of the gutter and the top of the column. The bottom of the gutter and the top plate of the steel column can be welded and fixed to increase the overall firmness. For the gutter that cannot be welded on the same day, the above method can be used for temporary fixation. If conditions permit, the gutter can be bound and fixed with steel wire rope with wall beam or gutter bracket.

3.Opening of water outlet:

The position of gutter gutter outlet shall be located according to the design requirements. Generally, the conventional water outlet is opened at the side of steel column or steel beam.Pay attention to the position of the support when opening, and try to avoid it, so as to reduce the amount of fittings of the downpipe.The installation method of downpipe should be considered at the same time of opening. It is better to determine the fixing method of downpipe hoop first, so as to shorten the material of fixing pipe hoop and reduce the cost.The opening can be carried out by gas cutting or angle grinder. It is strictly forbidden to use electric welding to open holes directly.After the hole is opened, the hole shaft and its periphery shall be trimmed with an angle grinder, and then the steel pipe drain hole shall be welded with the gutter. During welding, the welding quality shall be paid attention to and the phenomenon of missing welding shall be strictly prevented.After welding, the welding slag shall be cleaned up in time, and the welding metal obviously higher than the gutter shall be polished with angle grinder until it is basically flat. In order to prevent the occurrence of ponding at the water outlet, the large hammer can be used to smash a little bit of the water outlet to facilitate drainage.

4, paint:

After all the gutters are welded and inspected to be qualified, the welding slag at the welding area shall be cleaned up again, and the paint in the welding area shall be cleaned up with iron brush, and then the antirust paint with the same specification as the original paint shall be used for repair.According to the design requirements, the gutter finish coat shall be applied before the construction of roof panel.If there is no design requirement, another layer of chloroprene adhesive shall be applied on the inner side of steel plate gutter for anti-corrosion treatment.


Installation of stainless steel gutter

1.The installation conditions and opening requirements of stainless steel gutter are the same as those of steel plate gutter.

2.Argon arc welding is adopted for stainless steel gutter welding. Stainless steel wire of the same material is used as the welding rod, and the diameter can be the same as the plate thickness.It is usually 1 mm.Before the formal welding, the welder should be organized to carry out the test welding. The batch welding can be started only after passing the test. At the same time, it is better to assign a special person to carry out the welding and arrange an auxiliary worker to cooperate with the operation, so as to improve the benefit of the main production.After welding, the area should also be properly smashed down to facilitate drainage.The stainless steel welding rod must be cleaned before use.

3.As the stainless steel gutter is formed by folding edge processing, it is inevitable that there will be dimensional deviation. Therefore, before transportation, the gutter should be comprehensively inspected, and the gap at the joint should be adjusted to the minimum. Before welding, spot welding should be used to fix the gutter, and then welding should be carried out. The bottom of the gutter should be welded, and then the side of the gutter should be welded.If possible, trial arrangement can be carried out, and the hoisting shall be carried out after numbering according to the trial arrangement, so as to minimize the welding workload and ensure the engineering quality.If the gap is too large to be fully welded with welding wire, the leftover material can be used for splicing, and the surrounding welding shall be paid attention to at the splicing position, and the welding seam at the edge and corner shall be full without missing welding.


Installation of color plate gutter

1.The installation of roof gutter can be carried out after the installation of roof panel, or it can be installed at the same time with roof panel. The specific situation can be flexibly determined according to the site conditions. 

2.The fixing of color plate gutter is divided into two parts: one is to connect the inner plate of the gutter with the roof panel with self tapping screws or rivets; the other part is to connect the inner side of the gutter with the roof panel with the self tapping rivet of the roof panel; the other side of the tension bar is connected with the plate and purlin with the self tapping screw fixing the roof panel at the wave crest of the roof panel. The connection between the gutter and the gutter shall be in accordance with the requirements of the company’s standard atlas,Riveted with rivets according to the spacing of 50 mm in two rows, and the lap joint of plates is sealed with neutral seal. Attention should be paid to the cleaning of the lap surface when lapping. After gluing, it is necessary to stand for a break time, and the main part can be moved after the glue is solidified.

3.The opening of gutter drain opening can be directly carried out by cutting machine, and the position shall be in accordance with the design requirements. The gutter and gutter bottom shall be fixed with rivets according to the requirements of relevant nodes in the standard atlas, and the sealant treatment at the joint shall be connected with the gutter.

4.The flatness requirement of color plate gutter is the same as that of steel plate gutter. Because it is mainly determined by the installation quality of the main structure, the construction quality of the main structure must be guaranteed before the installation of the gutter, so as to lay a good foundation for the improvement of the installation quality of the gutter.
