The group makes extensive use of Tekla Warehouse for content sharing. Another noteworthy aspect is the complex reinforcement designed for the project.
The Helsinki Airport Expansion Project, a T2 Alliance project, won the public category award and the Best BIM Project award. The jury appreciated that the models used were created by only a few and used by many, especially given the simultaneous production and the impressive size of the project.
The establishment of the Pierrefonds waste separation plant on Reunion Island (off the coast of East Africa) is a €230 million multi-year project by a consortium of specialist companies, which will be implemented by a consortium of specialist companies led by industrial contractor CNIM and will contribute to the development of a circular economy on the island. The project, created in Tekla Structures using Tekla Model Sharing, combined sorting and processing of recyclable materials, bio-waste recycling and renewable energy generating units, which left the jury in the “interesting position” that it was “correct”. from an environmental point of view. profitable industrial projects. ”
The winner in the category “infrastructure” was an 870-meter flyover with a complex reinforced concrete superstructure and a substructure consisting of 2 abutments and 21 supports. The TSC Innovation team, along with builder INCOT and reinforcement supplier Aceros Arequipa, used detailed (LOD400) and collaborative VDC engineering, prefabrication and applied IFC, and cloud connectivity. The jury praised the impressive digital workflow as different design teams use Tekla Model Sharing and Trimble Connect as their common data environment; comment: “Combining BIM data with conditions is an advantage for decades to come.”

Teams from SRV Rakennus, Ramboll Finland and ARCO Architecture Company worked on approximately 500 models using Tekla Structures, Tekla Model Sharing, Trimble Connect and Trimble SketchUp® modeling software. In this project, an initial information model based on InfraBIM was implemented. Infrastructure and traffic planning is implemented in various ways, and simulations are used to organize traffic. Sustainability considerations are taken into account in several ways, such as condensation heat recovery systems and solar thermal collectors.
Big One is one of the most famous roller coasters in the UK. Taziker Industrial has won the 2021 Tekla BIM Award for its 9 Way Change Project. This included working with Westlakes Engineering’s dynamics engineers to go through the tunnels and modify the tracks for a smoother ride. Faced with complex geometry, the team used point clouds to define the geometry of existing paths, which were then exported to improve the design and re-imported for new line designs and final modeling. Tekla Structures and its various tools such as point cloud import, layout manager and Grasshopper® linking capabilities, as well as the ability to check back with a total station to validate the final geometry, were key to the success of this project. The jury commented: “A project like this raises the bar for the industry as a whole.”
The winning student project is a bridge project across the Corrèze River. A team of 6 students from the IUT du Limousin Civil Engineering Department worked for only 13 working days on the discovery of the bridge under construction as well as the concrete execution plans & mixed steel-concrete structure design. A team of 6 students from the IUT du Limousin Civil Engineering Department worked for only 13 working days on the discovery of the bridge under construction as well as the concrete execution plans & mixed steel-concrete structure design. A team of 6 civil engineering students from IUT du Limousin worked just 13 working days to locate the bridge under construction, as well as the concrete work plans and the design of the mixed reinforced concrete structure. A team of 6 civil engineering students from IUT du Limousin completed the study of the bridge under construction, as well as the concrete work plan and design of the hybrid reinforced concrete structure, in just 13 working days. The team used Tekla Structures to model the hangers and the finished bridge, scanned the hangers for missing dimensions, and created a rebar design for the bridge’s abutments (pillars, abutments, and deck). Finally, they present the project to design engineers, managers, and owners. The jury was impressed and said, “There are many new talents growing in the industry.”
The Tekla Global BIM Award 2022 was awarded to ScaffPlan for their ScaffPlan® scaffolding modeling system based on Tekla Structures. Scaffplan harnesses the full power of Tekla Structures through the Tekla Open API, combined with ScaffPlan functionality, to create a solution that helps improve a company’s ROI. A team of 5 developers wrote 3 million lines of code. The decision is a strong testament to Trimble’s platform strategy to create prefabricated information for 100% of the construction industry.
The jury gave special mention to the Norwegian E6 motorway project, a 23 km extension of the motorway to improve traffic flow and safety. It includes 240 meters of bridges and 2 CIP concrete tunnel entrances.
